Your 1st Day - What to expect during this rotation...

Welcome!!!

Hopefully, by now we've spoken a few times prior to your first day, discussed the best way to set up your Forum profile and some of my preferences for this process.

But if we haven't spoken about these details, please sign-up using a permanent email address. Perhaps in the future, I may like to contact you about a skincare orientated newsletter, or similar information service. Complimentary of course.

Either prior to starting or the morning of the first day of the rotation, please fill out your profile on this website and introduce yourself in the discussion marked with your start date. A photo of yourself would be appreciated so we may place a name to a face. Also, you may recognize some of your fellow classmates from past rotations.

We'll be meeting in person either on the first day or sometime during this rotation. The date, time and location will be agreed upon. Else other plans will be made to get better acquainted with each other along with your classmates. However, you'll never required to meet in person, especially during the pandemic.

When we meet and/or speak on the phone the first day, please introduce yourself to the rest of the group. You may have done this prior to the first day on the discussion board. Please tell us again, so we can get better acquainted together.

(I) We'll discuss how this subject matter came about and its relevancy to Pharmacists as Practitioners.

(II) Also to discuss are the expectations of work to be submitted throughout the rotation.

Your rotation homework will be generated by choosing subjects of interest from a list of available ppt and information sheets during your first day. In the works is a long term project is to create Learning Management System (LMS) presentations. But for now, I'll be sending study work via email or else lessons may be found on the Forum. Unless first discussed and approved, please do not start a discussion rather only continue an already established one.

After we talk and you go off to work independently or as a group, you'll study each morning and write a reflection in the afternoon to be entered into the Forum by 10am the next day. Submission of work not submitted by 10am the next day, may be discussed ahead of time or else afterwards due to any unforseen circumstances.

(1) Table of Contents (day to day schedule: may change) - On your first day, please browse through the Forum and look at previous student's entries. You may recognize some of your fellow students who have now gone on to graduate. Then please create a table of content of what you'd like to study each day.

Below are two examples of Table of Contents by your fellow students that took a leadership role when the pandemic crisis first broke out in March 2020. Please take a look and we'll further discuss how you may create a Table of Contents as well.

All following days such as the 2nd day till last day will be as follows:

In the morning, ideally 9a-12n with a 15 min break, you'll review study information that may spark your interest for further learning. Read, study, take notes, research the topic.

12n-1p: Lunch

1p-5p (with 15 min break): you'll write a 500 word Reflection on your chosen study of interest.

Unless discussed otherwise, generally speaking each of you will write a 500 word reflection.

This reflection will be academically worthy of a 6th year doctorate student.

(2)Two week goals - (may change) As part of your first day assignment, please write up what your overall goals will be for the first two weeks and how that may be accomplished. This may be a few lines, if you decide to change your goals or else find your interests have gone in a different direction then please rewrite them. This may be emailed to me, no need to place in the Forum.

Four week goals - (may change) When you feel more comfortable with this rotation's format, then please write up your goals for the next fours weeks. This may be done as late as the end of your second week, and may change during your third week. You may rewrite these goals as well.

Basically goals are your road map, to stay on target each day and focus on specific objectives.

(3) How to enter your work in the Forum.

Please only continue a discussion. If you are going to begin a discussion please speak with me first prior to doing so. I only want a specific number of discussions that correlate to homework assignments.

(4) Journal Club (2 among 4 people) You are required to do two Journal Clubs. The Journal Club assignment may be divided up among the group. Please hand this in during the third week into the rotation; we'll further discuss this process. Unless we discuss the matter, please no drug comparisions to placebos. This too will be discussed further during one of our conversations.

(5) LinkedIn profile - share link if care to - You may create a LinkedIn profile or else fine tune the one you already have on your first day. Adding your resume to the profile is optional. Consider sharing your profile with the Preceptor, your fellow rotation members and those you'd like to stay in touch with over the next years.

(6) Board Questions (email questions completed) - We'll discuss the possibility of practicing for the Boards. During the pandemic there were exceptions made due to the many changes in schedules.

(7) Enter your hours - tradition format - Please enter your hours for each day using a traditional format.

We'll further discuss how you may work during non-traditional hours. However, you may not leave the country during this rotation, but may be in different parts of the United States. Upon entering your hours please also include in the comments, the topic worked on that day.
